According to rumors from Asia, LG would use the second generation of their own processor to boost Nuclun a successor to LG V10.
The rumor says the Nuclun 2 is slightly more powerful than the Kirin 950 of Huawei, but LG decided it is not powerful enough to boost the LG G5, which will be presented in the first half of 2016 – possibly in April.
The two then Nuclun debut with the successor to the LG V10, would come only in the second half of next year.
The use Nuclun 2 cores Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A72, and would be manufactured by TSMC with 16nm process. Although it had been rumored Intel’s intervention in making the SoC with 14nm process, presumably with better performance, eventually low production capacity of Intel played in favor of TSMC at first.
The Nuclun 2 carries a heavy legacy, because the first version of Nuclun was a fiasco, and choose the second generation successor of well received LG V10 could pose many risks to the manufacturer that needs to reverse the poor performance of 2015.
